Sofie Cairo

Sofie Cairo is an Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business School. During her doctoral studies she collaborated with the Danish Ministry of Employment in designing and implementing field experiments for the universe of welfare and UI benefit recipients in Denmark. Before joining CBS she was a fellow at the Laboratory for Innovation Science at HBS. Sofie’s research agenda focuses on gender inequalities in science and leadership, such as gender gaps in productivity, promotion and access to funding, particularly how motherhood and personal experiences affects scientific promotion, productivity, impact and direction of science. She collaborates with Novo Nordisk Foundation and Danish companies to address gender inequity in science and leadership.


Sofie Cairo is currently the PI on a project funded by the Lundbeck Foundation focusing on applicant behavior and persistence in science funding based on field experiments.
