Dr. Yun HOU is interested in researching and teaching innovation and entrepreneurship. She got her Ph.D. degree at the Department of Strategy and Policy, NUS Business School in November, 2021. She joined the Innovation, Policy, and Entrepreneurship Thrust of the Society Hub of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) as an Assistant Professor beginning from Fall 2022.

Her main research area is innovation and entrepreneurship. On one hand, she studies the impact of the development of intellectual property policies on corporate innovation strategies. Specific research topics include: the judicial protection of patents on research and development input and output, the impact of patent strategies, the influence of government centralized procurement contracts on corporate innovation, and the effects of geopolitical conflicts on corporate technology and product innovation. On the other hand, her research focuses on the sociological learning behaviors and strategic choices of entrepreneurs. Specific research topics include: the influence of benchmark information on entrepreneurs’ willingness to enter, launch, and grow, as well as the characteristics of entrepreneurs and public resource support. She primarily utilizes field experiments to collect and analyze first-hand data on the entrepreneurial process.
