AI in Science: our analysis of AlphaFold 2

In December 2025, IGL published the impact report on AlphaFold 2. We present this report as an independent analysis of the scientific impact of AlphaFold 2, and a contribution to the evidence base around AI in science.
We studied the impact of AlphaFold 2 on science, looking at productivity, exploration and applied research outcomes.
