Behind the Scenes
Learning to Quit? A Multi-Year, Multi-Site Field Experiment with Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurs
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm CET, 15 May 2026
The IGL PhD community brings together early-career researchers looking to enhance their skills in experimental research and get feedback from both their peers and senior scholars.
One of our workshop series is “Behind the Scenes” which consists of talks by senior researchers, focused on the practical, sometimes invisible, decisions that shape experimental research in organisations and management. These sessions follow the rough timeline of a typical journal publication process for field experiments, starting with experimental design and pre-registration, then moving toward implementation, recruitment, funding, revision, and publishing. Sessions will run every other month, with each session focused on a concrete stage of the research process.
If you are interested in joining the PhD Community and participating in the sessions, please browse for more information here and register your interest here.
Our fourth session will be on:
📅May 15, 2026 – 4:00-5:00 pm CET / 10:00-11:00 am EST –
This session will feature Professor Yael Hochberg (Rice University), who will share insights from her recent paper “Learning to Quit? A Multi-Year, Multi-Site Field Experiment with Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurs.” Link to the paper here.
Professor Hochberg will walk us through the behind-the-scenes process of designing and executing the experiment, followed by a Q&A.
