Strategic Study on Policy Experimentation
Directly influence how the European Commission supports policymakers
Deadline: 13/10/2025
Evidence-based R&I policy is needed in Europe to deliver transformative change and boost competitiveness. This can be achieved through policy experimentation, which offers a way to assess which policy actions truly work best.
In collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and Technopolis Group, the Innovation Growth Lab is preparing the ground to establish a new Community of Practice (CoP) within the R&I landscape, which will be instrumental in driving the wider adoption of policy experimentation.
In order to do this, we need your expertise. We have launched a quick survey which will help us understand how to provide better support for innovation in policymaking across Europe. You should complete the survey if you are:
- Working in the European Union or the UK
- Working on research or innovation policy, defined broadly
- Working in public administration (in government or a public sector institution) – people in organisations that have some say over how policies and programmes are designed and delivered
The survey is completely voluntary and takes around 10 minutes to complete. All responses will be confidential and anonymised, and the data will be stored securely and used solely for the purpose of this research. Your response will directly shape how the European Commission designs future resources and support networks for policymakers like you.
At the end of the survey, you will also be able to view how your responses compare to those who completed it. If you choose to provide us with your contact details, you will also receive the summary of the findings and/or further information about the Community of Practice.
