IGL is hosting The Innovation Data and Policy Network which is a growing community of researchers, developers, analysts and leaders who are producing or using insights from data, data science, and AI within science, innovation, business and entrepreneurship policy. It is a space for sharing knowledge, developing ideas, and discussing common challenges, centred around monthly presentations and discussions on the real-world application of data-driven tools in policymaking.

Our second session will be held on:

This month’s session will feature a presentation by the UK Government Office for Science, who have adapted a dimensionality reduction technique from the Harvard Growth Lab to identify opportunities for fine-grained industrial policy. The team will discuss the approach from a technical perspective and reflect on its policy implications, including the broader use of administrative data in policy design.
